Brief: USAID’s Diaspora Invest Project invites Bosnian and Herzegovinian diaspora to join in the establishment of the Diaspora Business Advisory Council (DiaBAC). This five-year project aims to utilize the BiH diaspora’s potential in enhancing local economic developments. The project, building on USAID’s past diaspora engagements, focuses on strengthening local communities’ ties with the diaspora, boosting diaspora investments, and transferring knowledge to catalyze economic growth and job creation.
Purpose: DiaBAC, an informal council of eminent Bosnian and Herzegovinian business leaders living overseas, aims to connect the BiH business realm with global markets. The council’s core mission is to advise domestic stakeholders on nurturing trade, fostering investment opportunities, and disseminating knowledge. Embedded within the council’s ethos is the advocacy of socially responsible and sustainable business practices vital for BiH’s long-term growth and prosperity.
Vision: DiaBAC envisions a prosperous Bosnian and Herzegovinian community, both domestically and abroad. The council commits to fostering trade, investments, and the exchange of talent and knowledge between BiH and its diaspora. Recognizing their pivotal role, diaspora leaders, along with local stakeholders, aim to support initiatives leading to socio-economic betterment and positive business transformations.
Mandate: DiaBAC’s mission revolves around three growth principles for BiH:
- Smart Growth: Leveraging advanced technologies and data-driven strategies to optimize resources, enhance productivity, and foster innovation.
- Sustainable Growth: Prioritizing eco-responsibility, championing renewable energies, eco-friendly production methods, and sustainable consumption.
- Inclusive Growth: Ensuring opportunities are accessible to all, promoting equal education, supporting the vulnerable, and addressing income disparities.
